Shipping Charges

Shipping charges are calculated based on the delivery method you choose.  You can choose from Australia Post Parcel Post or Australia Post Express Post and the shipping cost will be displayed when you use the "checkout" procedure when ordering.

Weight is calculated by Australia Post using two factors: how heavy the package is (gross weight) and how large it is (volumetric weight).
The charge is based on whichever is the larger of the two.

Gross weight is the weight of the item plus packaging. The cubic weight is the parcel's volume in cubic metres, multiplied by 250. For example, a parcel that is 50cm x 30cm x 25cm may have a gross weight of 4kg, but it's volumetric weight is 9.375kg (0.5 x 0.3 x 0.25 x 250). As 9.375kg is the higher of the two, that will be the value used to calculate the delivery cost.

If you require a faster delivery service than these options, then please contact us and we can assist with making arrangement for shipping via your preferred carrier.  Any additional costs incurred because you choose a non-standard delivery method will be added to the cost of your order.

It is always best to have your parcel delivered to an address where you are sure that someone will be available to receive it during business hours.
A business address is often good for this reason, but if you are having your parcel sent to work, remember to include your company's name (and the department or level where you work).

Some of our goods are not permitted to be delivered because of health and safety reasons.  Other times, such as knives, may require the person to present themselves for identification.  Some items are just too big and awkward or too valuable to be shipped safely.  Most of these items are marked in the online store as "in store only", so if you require such an item, please check the store locator on our website for your nearest store location.

Estimated Shipping Times

Australian deliveries: Orders are dispatched the business day after payment has been cleared. Please note that credit card payments occur immediately, but e-cheques and direct debits can take up to three business days to be cleared through our bank. Only once payment has been cleared can we dispatch your order.

Depending upon the delivery method you selected during the checkout procedure, delivery times will be as follows:

Best Standard Freight - delivery will take 6 to 10 business days from the date of dispatch.

Aus Post Parcel Post - depends on your location in Australia; Australia Post say to allow between 1 and 5 business days from the date of dispatch.

Aus Post Express Post - guaranteed next business day delivery from the date of dispatch within the Express Post Networks. The Express Post network covers 80% of Australian business addresses, private addresses and post offices boxes. Delivery outside this network will receive the fastest possible delivery using existing transport links. Please note that if we need to source your stock from one of our nearby stores, we will inform you of the actual delivery time if it is anything other than as explained above.

International Deliveries: Most orders to be delivered outside Australia will be received approximately three to four weeks from when your order is placed. However this does vary considerably - and largely depends on where in the world we are shipping to (and the postal system of that country). Please allow up to four weeks for delivery of your order.  Please contact us if you have any questions regarding shipping times to your country.

Export Restrictions: We will not ship any goods that we deem to be dangerous to any country outside of Australia.

If your order does not arrive in the estimated time you should:

  • Check at your local post office or mail centre to see if they are holding it there for you. Sometimes the postman forgets to leave a card to tell you to pick the parcel up.
  • If you are having the parcel delivered to work, check with your colleagues and with the mailroom to see if they have seen your parcel.
  • Logon to our website to check that your shipping address was correct and that your order has been processed.

Returns
Policy

Mitchell's stands behind the quality of our merchandise and is dedicated to providing high quality goods and services for our clients. If you are not happy with your online order for any reason, then do not hesitate to contact us so that we can endeavour to correct the situation.

Mitchells will accept the exchange of any unworn or un-used goods as long as they are in original condition and still have their tags, however please contact us first so that we can determine the best remedy.

You can return the goods with the original receipt as proof of purchase within 30 days.

If possible it would be best if you could take your returns to your nearest Mitchell's store (see our online store locator for your nearest store). If you cannot get to a store, please contact us first on (03) 9314 3666 to discuss your reason for return and your preferred remedy i.e. whether you would like a bigger/smaller size, different colour etc. Where possible we will provide you with the requested exchange, but if out of stock we will provide you with a store credit. Unfortunately if you need to return any items, the postage costs on these returns will be borne by you and shipping and handling costs on returns are non-refundable. Returned items must be received by us in the same condition as you received them, so please pack any returned items carefully to ensure they arrive safely.

If unfortunately you receive damaged goods (damaged in transit or otherwise) then we will provide replacement goods at our discretion provided you contact us about the problem within 5 working days of receipt of the goods. Damaged or faulty goods may need to be returned to us, however please contact us first so that we can determine the best remedy.
